Electrodiagnostic Therapy, EMG /NCS

Sunnyvale Imaging Center now offers the best in Electrodiagnostic (EMG/NCS) Therapy in the Silicon Valley Bay Area.EMG/NCS Our EMG/NCS technology is the state-of-art way to conduct electromyography and nerve conduction studies in Sunnyvale and surrounding Santa Clara regions. Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) allow us to diagnosis the physical scenarios or diseases negatively impacting peripheral nerves, muscles, neuromuscular junction and motor neuron functionality. We have now gone one step further and added the proper in-house diagnostic testing to help the Bay Area's most qualified practitioners and physicians determine proper nuremuscular treatments. Allowing us to faster serve, and more accurately asses patient needs.

How do you prepare for an EMG & NCS?

Little preperation is needed on the patient's end for EMG and NCS tests. Normal activity can be exercised prior to the testing, as far as diet and behavior are concerned. Normal, as prescribed, medications are to be taken. We ncourage patients to maintain clean, fragrance-free, lotion or topical treatment-free (creams), testing areas (nothing on the area being directly tested). Tests range between 30 mins to an hour, based on the study type and testing parameters. Patients can experience small discomfort or pain while the test's administered. However, most EMG/NCS test paitents, make it through without much difficulty at all. After the study, patient's muscles may be tender or sore, with possibility of some low-level bruising for a couple days. The nerve conduction studie (NCS) utilizes a short, yet intense electrical stimulation to the nerve area in question, in an effort ot track the electro-behavior of the nerve. Physicians must be notified of any medication patient's are taking, specifically aspirin, blood-thinners, bleeding disorders, or implanted electrical units or stimulators. Any allergies most importantnly latex, should also be reported. Your patients will benefit from the quick and professional service. Let us know how we can help you!
